Equalities Objectives

East Preston Junior School is part of the Schoolsworks Academy Trust.

As such, the trust has overarching responsibility for many aspects of the school’s work, including its work to ensure equality for all people who both work for the trust, and make use of its schools.

These equality objectives are specific to East Preston Junior School, and should be read in light of the trust’s Equality Statement, and its Equality and Diversity Policy. Both of these policies can be accessed via the Policies page.

East Preston Junior School is committed to ensuring equality of provision throughout the school community.

To achieve this, our equality objectives for 2024 - 2028 are as follows:

  • To promote understanding and respect for differences;
  • To narrow the gap in attainment in reading, writing and mathematics between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged pupils;
  • To ensure that children in (or formerly in) the care of the local authority achieve as well as their peers by the end of KS2;
  • To ensure that pupils who are otherwise disadvantaged have full access to the breadth of the school curriculum.

The school already undertakes work to closely monitor the progress of all its pupils, and to put in place interventions to support pupils who are at risk of not reaching the targets set for them. These processes will be used to ensure that those identified in the equality objectives are supported to achieve the goals set.

Progress against these objectives will be reviewed annually.

Effective date: July 2024

Review date: Summer 2028
