EP Win Locality Rounders Festival!

Final Result: Team EPJS 1st Place

In blustery conditions at the Angmering school this week, Team EPJS took to the field for the summer time favourite of rounders.

Playing in a round-robin tournament again local rivals St Margaret’s, Georgian Gardens and St. John’s, Team EP won 2 of the their 3 matches which was enough to bring home another trophy in what has been a highly successful summer campaign.

The first game was against Georgian Gardens which ended up being an easy win with East Preston scoring 6.5 and Georgian Gardens scoring 2.5 after EP's fielding being very good and getting their batters out often, which led to 1 being deducted from their score each time. The second game was against St Johns, which was another win for EP, we scored 3.5 and they scored 2.5 after some brilliant fielding and catching reduced our score, after a brilliant start to the game. The last game was against St Margaret's and we fielded first, they went on to get 7.5 because their batters smashed the ball everywhere but most of the time we still fielded well. We scored 4.5 which isn't a bad score at all but we got out a lot more in this game than the first two after their backstop took some amazing catches which dropped our score significantly.

Every team member contributed to the game and this was the major ingredient for our success.

Thanks to Mr Gwynn and the other locality teachers for scoring and umpiring the games, to our work experience student Toby for scoring and contributing towards this report, to our locality rivals for the fantastic spirit in which the games were played and to parents and carers for their support and transporting the team to the event.

With one final fixture in the calendar, we hope to conclude a hugely successful sporting year with another win.
