Girls Football Tournament Ignites Passion and Power!
On Wednesday, 12th November, The Angmering School played host to an unforgettable Girls Football Tournament, where skill, teamwork, and determination were on full display. Our school proudly fielded two dynamic squads: the Year 5 team in bold blue and the Year 6 team blazing in bright orange.
The excitement began early as the players arrived brimming with energy, diving straight into warm-up drills that tested their shooting precision and defensive strength. It was inspiring to see natural leaders emerge, organising formations and motivating teammates like seasoned professionals.
Before kick-off, Mr Jenner delivered a clear briefing on the rules and pitch boundaries, ensuring every player was match-ready. Then came the fixtures—and the competition was fierce! Both teams demonstrated resilience, tactical awareness, and unwavering team spirit, supporting each other through every challenge. Every match was played in fantastic spirit, and every school represented themselves brilliantly.
After a mix of hard-fought victories and narrow defeats, the stage was set for the ultimate showdown: Year 5 vs Year 6—the grudge match! The tension was electric as the whistle blew. Year 5 struck first with a sharp finish, taking an early 1-0 lead. But Year 6 roared back with relentless attacking play, netting three superb goals to seal a 3-1 triumph. The final standings? Year 6 claimed 2nd place, while Year 5 secured a proud 3rd.
This tournament wasn’t just about goals—it was about confidence, leadership, and growth. Every player left the pitch a champion in their own right. Huge congratulations to all involved for an incredible day of football!
Yours in sport,
Mr J Etherington (PE Lead)
