🏀 Local Primary Schools Battle It Out in High-Intensity Round-Robin Basketball Tournament! 🏀

On Tuesday 30th September, the sports hall of The Angmering School was alive with energy and anticipation as primary schools from across the area came together for a round-robin style basketball tournament. Representing our school were two dynamic teams—one from Year 5 and one from Year 6—each ready to showcase their skill, teamwork, and tactical awareness.

Before the first whistle, both squads looked focused and determined. Their warm-up routines were sharp and disciplined, featuring coordinated shooting drills, defensive slides, and fast-paced passing sequences. The atmosphere was electric as teams gathered for a pre-tournament briefing, where officials outlined the rules, scoring system, and expectations for fair play.

Unlike a knockout format, this tournament rewarded consistency and strategic play, with teams earning points for each win across multiple fixtures. Our teams rose to the challenge brilliantly.

The Year 5 team delivered a phenomenal performance throughout the day, demonstrating excellent court awareness, fluid ball movement, and clinical finishing. Their ability to adapt tactically to different opponents was a standout feature—switching between zone defense and man-to-man coverage, and executing fast breaks with precision. Their decision-making was mature and selfless, always prioritizing the good of the team over individual glory.

Meanwhile, the Year 6 team showed tremendous resilience and tactical depth. They battled fiercely in every match, displaying strong defensive rotations, confident shooting from mid-range, and smart use of screens and cuts. Their commitment never wavered, and they earned a well-deserved 4th place finish in a highly competitive field.

As the tournament progressed, both teams grew in confidence and cohesion. Every player gave their all—whether driving to the basket, contesting rebounds, or communicating on defense. The standard of play across all fixtures was impressively high, with every game fiercely contested and played in great spirit.

In the end, it was the Year 5 team who emerged as tournament champions, topping the leaderboard with the most points earned across their fixtures. Their victory was a testament to teamwork, tactical intelligence, and relentless effort.

Huge congratulations to both teams for representing our school with pride, passion, and professionalism. The future of basketball in our community is looking brighter than ever!
