Mixed day for EPJS against GG

East Preston Juniors were delighted to play host for the first time this season to local rivals Georgian Gardens in week two of this season's fixture programme. Both netball and football teams were in action and on an overcast autumnal day were raring to go.

Netball

The netballers fielded an unchanged side and were once again captained by Ruby in a hard fought, often physical encounter. The game was decided by only 2 goals and demonstrates how tight and well-matched the two teams were today.

Megan was selected by her team mates as player of the match and was a stalwart of the EP defence.

 Football

The football match was also closely fought, more so than the scoreline suggests. After an initial bombardment of the GG goal, the game was turned on its head with GG scoring 3 goals in quick succession. The stunned EP team took a while to settle back into their pattern of play and had several chances to get back into the game but for some outstanding goalkeeping.

Several new faces wore the the light blue of EP today, and congratulations to them all for earning their first cap. Man of the match today was undoubtedly Iker - who showed tremendous commitment in everything he did.

We would like to extend our thanks to all who attended today - players, fans, spectators, the Angmering Sports Leaders, those that provided refreshments and those adults that make these events possible.

We look forward to Matchday 3 in the next few weeks.
