East Preston Junior School

Phenomenal turn out for Team EPJS in Angmering Mile!

The sporting calendar began today in earnest with the traditional curtain raiser - The Angmering Mile. Over 180 children from across the locality arrived to take part in this fabulous race around the Angmering School playing fields - running for both fun and glory!  The last week has been incredibly humbling with children from across our school showing a keen desire to represent their school and be part of our sporting journey - over 85 children from EPJS attended and of that 40 were from Year 3!

Whilst the wind was a factor in the race, the sun continued to shine, making for a pleasant evening of running and spectating for the army of East Preston parents that had made the journey.

Harry in Year 6 won the boys event with Charlie and Tobias also finishing in the top 10. Amy in Year 5 finished 2nd in the girl's race.  Every child received a finishing place card - individual places and times will be available on the Angmering Cluster Sports website in the coming days. https://angmeringclustersport.weebly.com/

Congratulations to every athlete that took part, you have now recorded a time and you can look to improve your personal best at the next Angmering Mile on 6th December or in one of our own East Preston Junior Mile races that will be taking place each term.

If you have represented the school, there is a place in your planner to record the event and there is also a page on sporting personal bests for you to write in your times.

As always with these events, a series of thank yous are needed - to Mr Gwynn and his team of sports leaders for organising the event, to Ms Algorta and Miss Groves for helping with the organisation of the event, to all of the mums, dads, siblings, grandparents and carers that cheered along the athletes and made transport possible and finally to all of the athletes for representing our school so well and making us proud of you.
