Social Media & Devices
As we approach Christmas, no doubt many children will receive new electronic devices of various sorts.
If you have purchased new devices of any sort, please can I urge you to look into suitable parental controls, but more importantly to ensure that you closely monitor all use of such devices. We hear of far too many stories of “nice children from nice families” getting caught up in all sorts of worrying activities online.
I wrote to all parents about my concerns about social media back in the summer, but the message may be worth revisiting. My letter and video are below, but perhaps the most important message is the need for parents to be checking devices - ideally daily - to ensure that they know exactly what their children have access to, and who has access to their children.
