Team EPJS star at the Wave
With the Southern Area Sports Games Organisation.
A select group of children starred for EPJS this week at the Littlehampton Wave for the Southern Area Sports Games Organisation’s sports taster day.
The children were met at the venue by a host of local stars who hosted individual sessions focused on sports not normally covered by our National Curriculum.
Skateboarding, martial arts, water safety, paddle-boarding and basketball were the feast du jour, and the EPJS children enjoyed an extended session with these professional instructors throughout the day.
The children were each provided with, and then all donned their fluorescent green t-shirts for the duration of the day - showing them up as locality competitors.
Team EPJS split into smaller groups to explore the range of activities on offer; it was a real delight to then see new friendships created across the locality.
The children enjoyed new opportunities accompanied by their teachers - Mr Coates found himself being taken to the floor by a group learning martial arts, Miss Denney was eliminated early in the basketball competition, whilst Miss Mead made it to the final 3 and was then defeated by children from across the locality. Miss Groves, as an experienced swimming instructor, sat back and allowed it all to ‘wash’ over her.
The children of EPJS emerged with far more success than their adult counterparts, all achieving significant progress and able to show off new skills and a new-found confidence in these sports .
We were thrilled that an EPJS child was recognised for her positivity throughout the day and received a voucher kindly donated by The Original Factory Shop in Rustington, who were part of a number of local stakeholders and sponsors of the event.
We would like to extend our thanks to Mr Jenner and his team of Angmering Sports Leaders; to the various professional instructors who gave up their time and expertise for the day; to Littlehampton Wave for the use of their premises and finally to our fabulous athletes who gave their all and made a significant impression.
