East Preston Junior School

Team Super Schools Athlete Visit - 08/05/24

After weeks of building excitement and anticipation, the day had finally arrived. Their was a real buzz throughout the whole school as the morning of activities lead by Steve Frew began.

Each class got involved in a high intensity round of circuits; encouraged and instructed by Steve himself. All children were incredibly motivated and gave their all during this - evident by the sheer number of red faces after each round! Steve himself noted that the effort all children put in was outstanding and the behaviour demonstrated was admirable.

After each class had completed their round of circuits, Steve lead a whole school assembly. Throughout the assembly, Steve explained his story and how he started from humble beginnings. He detailed each step of the journey to success and outlined his failures/hurdles along the way. Following this, Steve questioned different children about their aspirations. He then went on to use this to explain that we are all capable of anything with the right amount of hard work.

Finally, Steve demonstrated a truly mind-blowing skill as he jumped not 1, not 2, but 3 people (including Mr Coates) and dived into a roll. Children burst into applause as this. As the assembly concluded, Steve took questions from children and thanked everyone for their excellent participation throughout the day.

This day was made possible as a result of the voluntary contributions all of you have donated - we are all incredibly grateful!

Yours in sport,

Mr J Etherington (PE Lead)
