Thrills, Chills, and Victories: Football Finals Light Up a Frosty Evening!

On a crisp and chilly Monday evening, November 24th, the atmosphere at The Angmering School was electric as two of our finest teams stepped onto the pitch for the much-anticipated football finals. The stakes were high, the air was tense, and every cheer from the sidelines cut through the cold like a spark of fire.

Representing our school were two determined squads: East Preston B (Year 5), led by Mr Etherington, battling in the Championship League, and East Preston A (Year 6), managed by a former pupil, taking on the challenge of the Premiership League. Both teams arrived focused and ready, receiving last-minute tactical instructions from their coaches before being guided through the rules and running order. The stage was set for an unforgettable night.

Year 5: A Defensive Masterclass

From the first whistle, the Year 5 team showed grit and precision. Match after match, they dominated the field, racking up three impressive wins and conceding just one solitary goal. Their teamwork and resilience were nothing short of inspiring, leaving spectators in awe and opponents scrambling to keep up.

Year 6: A Nail-Biting Finish

Meanwhile, the Year 6 squad faced a tougher road in the Premiership League. After securing one win and a hard-fought draw, they entered their final game against a team with identical results. The tension was palpable—this was the ultimate winner-takes-all showdown. Every pass, every tackle, every shot mattered. As the clock ticked down, the scoreline remained razor-thin. Then, in a heart-stopping climax, our Year 6 heroes clinched victory by the narrowest of margins, sending the crowd into rapturous applause!

Double Triumph

When the dust settled and the results were announced, the celebrations began: both teams had finished top of their respective groups! For Year 6, the journey continues as they now qualify for the next round of fixtures. Year 5, too, can hold their heads high after a stellar performance that showcased skill, determination, and school spirit.

What a night it was—frosty in temperature but blazing with excitement! Congratulations to both teams for making our school proud. Bring on the next challenge!

Yours in sport,

Mr J Etherington (PE Lead)
