Year 3/4 Basketball

This week, we had the fantastic opportunity to compete against other locality schools in a basketball tournament.

Nine children from Years 3 and 4 took the opportunity to attend this fixture. Whilst there, the children showed excellent determination, resilience and enthusiasm.

Two teams were formed - EPJS Blue and EPJS White. Mr Etherington led EPJS White and EPJS Blue were led by Mr Scrivens. EPJS White started very strongly with a victory and grew in confidence after every game leading to a semi-final with some familiar faces.

EPJS Blue had an encouraging start as they won each of their three group games.

CRUNCH TIME

Heads were turned when it was announced that once familiar peers would now be fierce rivals. EPJS White vs EPJS Blue. The game was a stalemate for over half, before EPJS Blue stepped it up a notch and took the lead. In quick reply, EPJS White scored on the break to make it 3-2. Tensions grew as the final whistle loomed. These were soon settled as EPJS Blue extended their lead late on.

Following this, EPJS Blue had more success as they reached the final. Another tough game played out to a 4-0 victory for the team! EPJS White finished the tournament in a very respectable 4th place.

As a result of finishing first, the Year 3 & 4's have now qualified for Southern Area Finals!
