🔵🔴🟠 Year 3 & 4 Handball
Tuesday 28th April – The Angmering School
On Tuesday 28th April, our Year 3 and 4 pupils pressed play on an action-packed handball tournament at our local secondary school – and what a high‑performance sporting programme it turned out to be!
With over 20 pupils attending, we deployed not one, not two, but three fully‑loaded squads onto the court:
- 🔵 Blue Team
- 🔴 Red Team
- 🟠 Orange Team
It was a true case of maximum participation, minimum bandwidth for boredom.
⚙️ Booting Up the Basics: The Rule of Three
The tournament kicked off with a smooth onboarding session focused on handball’s famous Rule of Three:
- 3 dribbles
- 3 steps
- 3 seconds
Think of it as the sport’s built‑in operating system—simple rules, powerful performance. Pupils then rotated through a series of skill‑driven activities, fine‑tuning their dribbling mechanics, decision‑making speed and spatial awareness. Debugging footwork, upgrading passing accuracy and optimising teamwork were all clearly underway.
🕹️ Game Mode Activated: 6 Matches of Pure Play
Once systems were calibrated, it was time for the main event: six full games!
Each team was expertly captained by a different member of staff, who acted as coaches, motivators and occasionally enthusiastic sideline commentators. The children rose to the challenge brilliantly, showcasing:
- 📣 Outstanding team encouragement (morale levels stayed at 100%)
- ⭐ Individual prowess (some star players really upgraded their stats)
- 💪 Resilience under pressure (no rage‑quitting here!)
- 🤝 High‑level team play (textbook passing and positioning)
It was fantastic to see such a wide range of sporting skills—and sporting values—on full display.
🏆 Final Rankings: Results Compiled and Uploaded
After all matches were processed and the scoreboard finalised, the results were in:
🥇 Orange Team – 1st Place (Gold‑standard gameplay!)
🥈 Red Team – 2nd Place (A near‑perfect performance!)
🥉 Blue Team – 7th Place (A valiant effort with plenty of growth unlocked!)
✅ Final Whistle
Overall, the tournament was a roaring success—a brilliant blend of learning, competition and fun. The children represented our school fantastically, and every participant walked away having gained new skills, confidence and memories.
In short: great teamwork, strong skills, zero glitches.
We’re already looking forward to sharing the next sporting update! 🏐✨

Yours in sport,
Mr J Etherington (PE Lead)
