Year 3 & 4 Shine at Indoor Athletics Tournament!

On Monday 19th January, our enthusiastic Year 3 and 4 athletes headed to The Angmering School for a thrilling Indoor Athletics Tournament—an annual highlight that never fails to ignite team spirit, determination and friendly competition.

For our Year 4 pupils, this was a return to familiar territory, having competed last year as Year 3s. With confidence, experience and a few new talented faces, they arrived eager to push their performance to the next level. Meanwhile, our Year 3 team stepped into their very first indoor competition with wide eyes, buzzing excitement and a powerful sense of anticipation.

A High‑Energy Showcase of Skill

The event was packed with fast‑paced, technical and high‑intensity challenges designed to test speed, strength, agility and teamwork. Pupils demonstrated incredible focus and athletic flair across a variety of disciplines, including:

  • Team Obstacle Race – leaping, weaving and sprinting through a dynamic course
  • Speed Bounce – explosive footwork and rhythmic coordination
  • Chest Push Ball Throw – testing upper‑body power and precision
  • Standing Triple Jump – showcasing balance and controlled acceleration
  • Vertical Jump – measuring explosive lift and leg strength
  • Standing Long Jump – combining technique, momentum and power
  • 1 & 1 Lap and 2 & 2 Lap Races – high-speed tactical sprinting
  • 4-Lap Paarlauf – a thrilling paired endurance race
  • Final Relay – a dramatic, teamwork‑driven finale that had everyone cheering

Each station demanded determination, resilience and technical focus—and our athletes rose to every challenge brilliantly.

Outstanding Results Across the Board

We are incredibly proud to announce that both our Year 4 Boys and Year 4 Girls teams won their categories, showcasing superb athleticism, teamwork and competitive spirit. Their experience combined with outstanding individual performances helped them secure a well‑deserved victory.

Our Year 3 teams also impressed throughout the tournament, competing with energy, enthusiasm and rapidly growing confidence. They finished strongly in their events and demonstrated huge potential for future competitions.

A Day of Achievement and School Pride

The atmosphere was electric from start to finish, with pupils supporting one another, celebrating every success, and demonstrating exemplary sportsmanship. Whether it was mastering a new skill or smashing a personal best, every child played a vital role in a truly memorable day.

We are immensely proud of all our athletes for representing the school with such dedication, determination and joy. Their hard work in PE lessons shone through in every event.

Well done, Year 3 and Year 4—you were phenomenal!

Yours in sport,

Mr J Etherington (PE Lead)
