Year 4 Basketball Finals - 05/11/24

The Year 4 basketball finals were a thrilling event, packed with excitement, friendly rivalry, and impressive displays of skill. From start to finish, the competition was more than just a chance for young players to showcase their abilities—it was an incredible learning experience that highlighted key lessons in teamwork, discipline, and resilience.

One of the most noticeable aspects of the competition was the strong sense of teamwork demonstrated by all the teams. Basketball is all about learning how to work together, and the players really rose to the occasion. Whether it was making the perfect pass, communicating on defence, or setting up plays, every child showed the importance of collaboration. Coaches and parents alike cheered as players supported each other, celebrated each other’s successes, and worked as one unit to move the ball down the court. This was truly a showcase of how far they’ve come in developing trust and cooperation on the court.

The competition was a huge confidence booster for the players. Many showed a new level of self-assurance in their abilities, making plays they might have shied away from otherwise.

But it wasn’t just about individual success—sportsmanship was equally important. After the final buzzer, all players shook hands with their opponents, showing respect for each other’s efforts. Even in defeat, the kids displayed resilience, offering encouraging words to their teammates and promising to learn from the experience. These moments of good sportsmanship were a highlight of the day, and the true spirit of the game shone through in how everyone interacted, win or lose.

Looking ahead, the players are excited for future competitions, where they’ll continue to develop their skills and take on new challenges. The journey is far from over, but the progress they’ve made in this competition is truly something to be proud of.

Yours in sport,

Mr J Etherington (PE Lead)
