Year 5/6 Boys Football - 14/11/23

On Tuesday last week, children from Year 5 and 6 made the short journey to The Angmering School for a locality football tournament.

Two teams were taken to the event: one led by Mr Coates (East Preston White) and another by Mr Etherington (East Preston Blue).

East Preston White played 4 matches in total, drawing most of these. Mr Coates reported that, "They could have gone either way! The boys have played very well."

East Preston Blue won each of their group games and got through to the semi-final. During this game, both goalkeepers were kept very busy but remained resolute as the game played out to a draw. Extra time finished the same way and EPJS Blue set up for a penalty shootout. Tensions rose as the penalties went on but it was EPJS who eventually qualified for the final due to two fantastic penalty saves.

As the final began, it was EPJS Blue that took the early lead but it did not take long for St. Margaret's to respond. The full-time whistle sounded out another hard fought draw. St. Margaret's scored a late winner during extra time but the game could have gone either way.

Both teams showed excellent enthusiasm as they competed collaboratively. Mr Jenner expressed his admiration for all the competitors in demonstrating the School Games values.

As a result of finishing 2nd, EPJS have now qualified for locality finals.
