Year 6 Badminton - 10/10/24

On Thursday last week, 7 children from EPJS attended a slightly different event for the first time - badminton. The event was organised off the back of pupil voice gained from local schools, with children expressing that they would like to compete in badminton.

Children that took part have some familiarity with the sport as it was one of their Year 5 PE units. This showed right from the start as they demonstrated a good level of skill. They were also able to refine their skills and apply these to the carousel of activities that came before the games. 

The carousel included: serving into a hoop, drop shotting, longest rallies and target shots. This then gave the team a score out of 16. Following this, the children looked to apply their fine-tuned skills to game situations as they played against children from other locality school in singles and doubles matches. Results were highly positive and the rallies between children were very impressive! As the scores came in, the team were hopeful and high spirited as it was revealed that EPJS finished 2nd.
